Rafal Hajduk Rafał Hajduk, legal counsel, Partner at Domański Zakrzewski Palinka

Rafał Hajduk is head of the energy advisory team at Domański Zakrzewski Palinka. He handles all types of projects in the energy sector and advises on, e.g. investments in energy infrastructure, particularly power plants, project finance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and trading in energy, fuels, greenhouse gas emission allowances and related derivatives. He also advises on regulatory and contractual matters. Rafał is official Polish legal counsel to EFET (European Federation of Energy Traders).
Kasper Walet, Managing Director Maycroft

Kasper received a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Utrecht in 1987. He started his career at the NLKKAS, the Clearing House of the Commodity Futures Exchange in Amsterdam. After working for the NLKKAS for five years, Kasper was appointed as Member of the Management Board of the Agricultural Futures Exchange (ATA) in Amsterdam at the age of 31. While working for the Clearing House and exchange, Kasper became an expert in all the aspects of trading and risk management of commodities.

In 1997 he founded his own specialist-consulting firm that provides strategic advice about
(energy) commodity markets, trading and risk management.

Kasper has advised government agencies such as the European Commission, investment banks, major utilities and commodity trading companies and various energy exchanges and market places in Europe, CEE countries, North America and Asia. Some of the issues he has advised on are the development and implementation of a Risk Management Framework, investment strategies, trading and hedging strategies, initiation of Power Exchanges (APX) and other trading platforms, the set-up of (OTC) Clearing facilities, and feasibility and market studies like for the Oil, LNG and the Carbon Market.

Kasper has given numerous seminars, workshops and (in-house) training sessions about both the physical and financial trading and risk management of commodity and carbon products. The courses have been given to companies all over the world, in countries like Japan, Singapore, Thailand, United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Malaysia, China, India, Belgium and the Netherlands

Kasper has published several articles in specialist magazines such as Commodities Now and Energy Risk and he is the co-author of a book called A Guide to Emissions Trading: Risk Management and Business Implications published by Risk Books in 2004.

Industrial engineer with +15 years experience in the power industry, based 3 years in Austria. Industrial Engineer with over 15 years of experience in the power sector working for multinational companies (Enel Viesgo, Eon España, ContourGlobal), 8 years in management positions and 3 years based in Austria.


His expertise lies in power markets & trading, negotiation of power purchase agreements (PPAs), renewable energy, energy supply services to customers, and commercial due diligence internationally.


After working for 8 years in Enel Viesgo and Eon Spain in different positions under the Spanish energy management area he served as Commercial Director for 7 years in ContourGlobal. He set up power operations in Madrid to manage the 10 year PPA of a 800 MW CCGT acquired by ContourGlobal, who invested around 300 MEUR in the asset, and optimize the power in the spot markets (OMIE and REE). He negotiated several amendments to the original PPA with the off-taker (Naturgy) as a result of the subsequent regulatory changes.


His team also managed and negotiated amendments to eight 15 year PPAs between ContourGlobal and CocaCola Hellenic to provide energy supply services to bottling facilities in Northern Ireland, Italy, Poland, Romania, Ukraine and Nigeria. The cogeneration portfolio supplying energy services had an installed power capacity of around 60 MW. Furthermore, he´s got experience dealing with PPAs for renewable (wind and PV) generation assets with off-takers in Austria and Italy. On the buyer side for Remica (gas and power retail) he set up in-house and ran the operations to purchase the electricity in the spot markets (OMIE and REE) and the financial hedge via tenders with third parties. Structured PPAs with renewable generators, designed the strategy to implement PV self-consumption for end customers, prepared gas and power supply offers for public and private tenders. Currently, he is independent PPA expert advising both renewable producers and consumers.

Piotr Malik has over 10 years of sales experience. He has been working on the energy market for several years now. He gained his experience in the energy market while working in several large companies. In other companies, he learned to work with industrial electricity consumers by selling energy, gas and other products and services. While working for Enea Trading, he acquired knowledge about RES producers, their needs and problems as well as he has successfully cooperated with them as an off-taker. Currently, he is developing the origination department at Polenergia Obrót. His extensive experience allows him to understand both parties to the Corporate PPA and act effectively in this area.
