Michał Mazurkiewicz holds the position of Head of Carbon Emissions Trading Division. Before he started working for PGE SA he worked as Trader in the emission market in Netherlands and as Director of Emission Allowances Trade Bureau in PGE Electra S.A. He is in charge of emission management in PGE S.A. Capital Croup and for cooperation with contractors in the CO2 emissions market.

Polona Gregorin, Policy Officer, DG Climate Action, European Commission, Belgium
Polona Gregorin joined the European Commission as a policy officer dealing with the implementation of the EU Emission Trading System (EU ETS) in 2008. In her work with the Commission, she has contributed to a range of policy initiatives, including postponing (back-loading) the auctioning of 900 million allowances in the early years of phase 3 of the EU ETS. Most recently, she has been working on the impact assessment and proposal for a market stability reserve. She is also working on the oversight of the carbon market. Previously, she has contributed to the negotiations for the EU climate and energy package, and decisions determining the list of sectors deemed to be exposed to a significant risk of carbon leakage and rules for free allocation to industry. Trained as an economist, she has experience with working in an interdisciplinary and international setting. Polona is Slovenian and has lived for extended periods of time in Belgium and Germany. Prior to joining the Commission, she held an advisory position at the Ministry of Economy during the Slovenian presidency of the Council of the EU. Polona studied economics at the Universities of Ljubljana and Viadrina. She holds master degrees in economics from the College of Europe and management from the University of Brussels/Solvay Business School.

James Atkins, Chairman, Vertis Environmental Finance, Hungary
James founded the forerunner of Vertis in 1998 and then in 2001, jointly with Paul Bodnar, launched Vertis as a carbon finance and emissions trading business. Under his guidance, Vertis has pioneered emissions trading in Central and Eastern Europe. Previously, James was a manager in the corporate finance group at Deloitte & Touche Central Europe and worked for Arthur Andersen and Waste Management International PLC in the UK and Germany. He graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Modern Languages and is a UK Chartered Accountant. He is also the author of Climate Change for Football Fans, a humorous but serious book on climate change policy, and a related blog, The Bustard.

Sarah Deblock, Director, EU Policy, International Emission Trading Association (IETA), Belgium
Sarah is the Policy Director for European affairs at the International Emissions Trading Association. She manages and directs IETA’s European policy initiatives related to the EU ETS and closely monitors the developments regarding regulatory changes to the European carbon market. She also conducts advocacy work on behalf of IETA’s membership, sharing concerns and making suggestions to policy makers in the European Commission, European Parliament and Member States. Since joining IETA in November 2012, Sarah had lead IETA’s efforts on the temporary backloading proposal, the options for structural reform of the EU ETS, the ‘Stop the Clock’ aviation proposal for inclusion of the international flights in the EU ETS, linking discussions between the EU ETS and Australia, European Union registry matters, and market oversight. Prior to joining IETA, Sarah was the senior parliamentary assistant to Mr. Chris Davies, Member of the European Parliament from the UK, who was responsible for drafting the Parliament’s response to the Commission's proposal to develop a roadmap for developing a low carbon economy by 2050. Sarah coordinated and managed Mr. Davies’ roles in the Environment Committee and Fisheries Committee at the Parliament. Before her time in the Parliament, Sarah completed a traineeship in the European Commission. Sarah has lived in Brussels for four years, before which she completed her four-year degree in European Management at Lancaster University in the UK and Reims Management School in France. Sarah also holds a Master's Degree in Industry, Trade and Development, which she obtained from Manchester University.

Actively participates in many European debates on low-emission transformation, including negotiations on climate and energy package for the period 2020-2030. Katarzyna Kłaczyńska, LL.M., is responsible for the practice in the area of energy, natural resources, environmental protection and emissions trading in the Ernst & Young Law Tałasiewicz and Associates Ltd. She is graduated of Harvard University and the Jagiellonian University. She has powers of attorney in the State of New York. Her practice focuses on regulatory consulting for companies in the energy industry, petroleum and mining, and the sectors covered by the emissions trading system. She specializes in the legal aspects of climate policy, being a "leading figure" in the field accordingly to the international ranking Chambers & Partners Europe 2013. She is a regular counselor to major companies operating in Poland, representing the interests of the domestic industry in international fora, in particular the European Commission. Engaged to the role of the leading legal adviser on strategic projects defining the directions of regulation, implemented in particular on behalf of industry organizations. She also has experience in managing investment projects in the energy and mining sector, including cross-border projects. Frequently she is an expert and commentator on issues related to energy and climate protection for the media (including TVN CNBC, Polsat Biznes, Rzeczpospolita, WNP, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, CIRE), as well as a guest lecturer at the Warsaw School of Economics and Harvard University.

Cécile Goubet, Policy officer EU ETS, General Directorate Energy and Climate, Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, France
Cécile Goubet joined the French Directorate General for Energy and Climate Change in 2011 where she works as a policy advisor on the European carbon market. The main challenges of the position are currently linked to the structural reform of the EU ETS and the preparation for the next phase from 2020 on. Cécile also works on the development of current and future carbon markets around the world, and potential linking opportunities between those.Before joining the French Directorate General for Energy and Climate Change, Cécile worked as a Research Fellow in International Carbon Markets at CDC Climat Research. Her research field covered the development of regional and federal carbon markets in the USA. Cécile holds a Master’s degree in marketing and a Master’s degree in Energy and Environment Economics. She previously had a four years experience as business developer in the pharmaceutical industry and carbon market infrastructures.

Kari Kankaanpää, Senior Manager, Climate Affairs at Fortum Corporation, Finland
Kari has M.Sc. in Environmental and Chemical Engineering from the Helsinki University of Technology. He is working as Senior Manager, Climate Affairs at Fortum, Finland. He has over 20 years of experience in energy industry in the fields of sustainability, climate change mitigation and carbon market. In his current position in Corporate Relations of the company, he is responsible for climate and energy policy and EU affairs. Kari has been active in promoting market based climate instruments, emissions trading and Kyoto mechanisms. He is the chairman of the Climate Committee of the Finnish Energy Industries and a member of the Climate Working Group at Eurelectric - The Union of the Electricity Industry.

Andrzej Rode, Member of the Board & Air Transport Support, Poland
Andrzej Rode is associated with the aviation industry since the beginning of his career. His cooperation with Polish Airlines LOT began in 1993 where for seven years he served as Regional Director. The next few years he worked as Sales Director and Assistant of Director General at LOT. WIn 2008 he was appointed Director of the Environment and for five years has focused on the implementation of the EU ETS, a carbon offset and energy efficiency. Mr. Rode joined to the members of IATA ENCOM (Environmental Committee). Currently he's Carbon Emission, Environment and Sustainable Development Consultant at EuroLot whre he focuses on observing, reporting and verification of the EU ETS and carbon reduction. Mr. Rode main task is preparation and implementation of environmental policy.

Francisco Grajales Cravioto, Regional Manager for Global Emissions, Vattenfall Energy Trading
Francisco Grajales has over 12 years of experience in the fields of renewable energy, carbon markets and corporate carbon management. Currently he is regional manager for the procurement of carbon credits for Vattenfall, a leading European energy group. As regional manager with focus on Latin-America and Asia, Francisco is responsible for identification and origination of emission reduction project activities and negotiating all final purchase agreements of carbon credits. In addition, he is also responsible for strategic planning of procurement activities and provides advice on the future of the carbon markets to key Business Units of the Vattenfall Group. Before joining Vattenfall, Francisco was assistant fund manager for the Clean Tech Fund at Econergy, where he supported the identification and development of clean technology and CDM projects for investment. Prior to Econergy, Francisco worked in the Latin America Environmental Department of the World Bank in Washington, DC as a Junior Professional Associate. Previous to that, Francisco worked as a climate change and emissions trading analyst for a Finnish energy company, Fortum, where he contributed to the development of a corporate carbon market strategy.

Daria Kulczycka, Director of Energy and Climate Change Department, Lewiatan Confederation, Poland
Daria is an expert to Lewiatan since 2005. Responsible for leading Lewiatan’s work on energy and environmental issues and for giving support to Lewiatan’s Energy and Chemical Sector Organizations. Daria represents Lewiatan in BUSINESSEUROPE working groups for energy and climate change. Current projects she is conducting: energy policy, regulations concerning shale gas, energy efficiency, RES and COP19. Previously, after graduation from Warsaw School of Economics, Daria worked at Foreign Trade Research Institute, Systems Research Institute of Polish Academy of Sciences and for 15 years at NICOM Consulting Ltd. as a Team Director and Project Manager.

Dr. Magdalena Rogulska, Chief Specjalist of Renewable Energy, Department of Renewable Energy Resources, Automotive Industry Institute (PIMOT)
She is graduated from the Faculty of Physics at the Warsaw University (1973). Doctor of Agricultural Engineering (IBMER, 1996). From 1973 till 2005 she worked at the Institute for Building Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture. In 2006-2009 Manager of Renewable Energy (EC BREC) at the Fuels and Renewable Energy Institute. From June 2007 to July 2009 she was Deputy Director of Renewable energy. Since January 2011, Chief Specjalist of Renewable Energy in PIMOT. She specializes in bio-energy systems modelling in agriculture, the sustainable use of biomass for energy and transport, local energy planning (eco-energy strategies). She is coordinator of research and demonstration projects funded by the European Commission (DG Research, DG TREN, EACI). She is running the Polish office of the Swedish-Polish Sustainable Energy Platform. She is also the European expert evaluating projects under the Sixth and Seventh Framework Programmes, Expert of Polish Chamber of Biomass.
