Prospects for District CoolingformularzEN

Pawel Boguslawski Dr Paweł Bogusławski, independent expert
Mirosław Wróblewski, Head of the Maintenance Department in Kraków District Heating

He is the Technical Director. The duties include supervision over maintaining the operations. He took part in the district cooling installation pilot conducted by MPEC Kraków in 2014. He is a graduate of the Warsaw University of Technology.
Mathias Safarik Mathias Safarik, Head of Department of Applied Energy Engineering, ILK Dresden

Mathias has a diploma in process engineering. For his PhD thesis he set up a solar thermally driven ammonia-water absorption chiller with latent heat storage. He started working for the Institute of Air Handling and Refrigeration (ILK Dresden) in 2002 with the main focus in absorption refrigeration technology. He was involved in several developments of innovative thermally driven chillers with different working fluids. His team was awarded the German refrigeration prize in 2018 for the development of a water/LiBr absorption chiller using asymmetrical plate heat exchangers. Another focus of his work is using water as refrigerant in compression systems with vacuum ice being one of the applications. Mathias is head of department of applied energy engineering at ILK.
Aleksandar Ivancic Aleksandar Ivancic, Senior Consultant, Aiguasol, expert in Barcelona District Cooling System

Alex Ivančić is a mechanical engineer, holds a PhD in Thermal Science. The main area of his professional interest is focused on energy systems in built environment. Alex is equally committed to researching, practicing and teaching. He currently works with Aiguasol as Senior Consuntat. Alex is Member of the International Keio Institute for Architecture and Urbanism, Keio University, Tokyo and Member of the network Ideas2Value. He has taught at Barcelona Institute of Architecture and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, among others. As invited lecturer he visited Université de Genève, Universita della Svizzera Italiana, Princeton University, New Delhi Schoolo of Planning and Architecture, University of Malmo, etc. Alex published over sixty scientific and technical publications on great variety of energy related topics, including the book EnergyScapes, 2010, Gustavo Gili.
