The Association of Bulgarian Energy Agencies (ABEA) is an association of members located in key cities across the country that are dedicated to advancing the sustainable energy movement. ABEA supports its members’ efforts by focusing attention on the local environmental and energy policies. A key constituency of the member organisations is the nation’s local authorities. Among the activities of ABEA is the organising of a national conference, at which members and others share best practices and discuss sustainable energy planning and the implementation of EE and RES measures. ABEA is partnering with the Ministry of the Economy, Energy and Tourism; the Sustainable Energy Development Agency; the Ministry of the Environment and Waters, and other governmental institutions in the development of input. The many opinions gathered are leading to an improvement in the regulation of sustainable energy development, and integrated air quality and climate policies. ABEA is also continuing its sponsorship of its nationwide RES Champions League, a Europe-wide project in which municipalities compete with one another in the biomass the solar categories. The RES Champions League has successfully focused attention on local efforts to incorporate RES technology in replacing fossil-fuel heating installations, with resulting cost savings and a cleaner environment. www.abea-bg.org |
