DPhD Iwona Jelonek, President of the Polish Pellet Council, will give a speech during our 8th Forum of Biomass and Waste. The event takes place on June 12 in Chorzów. Due to the fact that she is a specialist in the field of organic petrology, she is focusing on the combustion of biomass, coal carbonization process, and the variability of the degree of thermal maturity of the dispersed organic matter in sedimentary rocks. Research interests focus on issues related to the development of renewable energy sources. From 2014 onwards she is conducting intensive activities related to renewable energy sources which is reflected in the specific implementations carried out in the field of natural heat sources. More

During the first edition of the seminar Perspectives for District Cooling, June 12, Chorzów, Wiktor Kozłowski, Technical Director of Ramboll Polska will give a presentation entitled Integrated network and district cooling system in the office and residential district. The presentation will show a case study of the introduction of district cooling in the office and residential area in Danish conditions. It will show the synergy effect from the integration of the district heating and cooling with the use of a heat accumulator for cold and heat and the possibility of using waste heat by using a heat pump. He is responsible for the management, coordination and supervision of technical and engineering consultancy projects, and for the quality of consulting services. Has many years of experience in the energy and heating sector. Thanks to many years of work in power plants, in a power plant and in a combined heat and power plant, he obtained comprehensive practical and theoretical knowledge of operation and maintenance of installations producing electricity and heat as well as heating systems and experience in the field of project preparation and management from the investor's perspective. The "Perspectives for District Cooling" seminar will take place on June 12 in Chorzów. During this event, we will be able to hear the speech of Piotr Kuzdra, Project Development Manager, Fortum Power and Heat Polska. The company has a Heat and Cooling Laboratory in Wrocław. It is a comprehensive solution, consisting of 36 solar panels, 7,000-liter water tanks and several different devices for generating cold from district heat. It will be monitored and modified on a regular basis in cooperation with specialists from the Wrocław University of Technology, thanks to which it will be possible to refine the solution in such a way that it fully meets the needs of recipients and could become public.

Ultimately, the Fortum installation is to provide thermal comfort throughout the year - in winter it will provide heat, while in the summer it will guarantee coolness on hot days. Work on the development of this solution in Poland has been ongoing since 2013. In the first phase of the project, Fortum tested this solution in Częstochowa, where it has a modern combined heat and power plant."
