The EU reached the agreement about the framework for climate policy until 2030

The European Union will reduce CO2 emissions by at least 40 percent to 2030 in relation to 1990 - the leaders reached the agreement in the night from Thursday to Friday in Brussels. Less wealthy EU countries, including Poland, will be less burdened with the costs of ambitious climate policy. 40-percent target of reduction in CO2 emissions till 2030. is the main element of the agreement on a new framework for EU climate policy after 2020 "It was not easy, but we were able to reach this agreement," - said the head of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy at the press conference after the end of the session of the first day of the summit. The way for a compromise was opened by Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and Van Rompuy. Shortly after the start of the summit, they talked about the Polish demands, while other countries were waiting for the outcome of these negotiations.
